Tasting- "Villa da Filicaja Chianti Superiore 2009"

Villa da Filicaja Chianti Superiore 2009

  • Variety: Chianti Blend (70% Sangiovese, 15% Canaiolo, 15% Malvasia Bianca)
  • Region: Tuscany
  • Country: Italy
  • Year: 2009
  • Price: $12.95
  • Shop review:
    • "Chianti Superiore DOCG "Conte Andrea" is the product of first-choice Sangiovese grapes from out best vineyards.  It rests for 12 months in barrels of white oak (Quercus Alba), producing a very special high standard Chianti Superiore wine."
  • My review:
    • This wine had a very musky or moldy aroma.  It tasted exactly like what Boyer describes as a "fruit bomb," with heavy notes of red fruits, especially raspberry.  It was also very tannic.
  • I did not have this wine with food.
  • Tasted at the Vintage Cellar wine tasting on 04/06/2013.

  1. Hello, I just wanted to let you know that the grapes in the bottle of wine as shown in your picture are actually: Sangiovese (approx. 90%), Canaiolo (appox. 5%) and Merlot (approx. 5%) Also, the "shop" notes are also not for the bottle shown.
